- Joel R. Aguada, (Joel)
- Joel
Aguada is the founder and President of the Magister English Training
Center. Prior to the establishment of Magister, he was the head of
Marketing, Sales and Business Development of various local and
multinational corporations. His extensive experience in the field of
sales and sales management made him a respected trainer and mentor in
the corporate world. He specializes in basic and advanced salesmanship
training, effective presentation skills, as well as in tailored
customer service programs for client companies. He graduated from the
Ateneo de Manila University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Legal
Management.
- Cecilia A. Suarez, (Cheche)
- Cheche
Suarez is a faculty member at the Department of English at the Ateneo
de Manila University where she teaches language and literature subjects
to freshman college students. She is also an EFL/ESL instructor at the
Ateneo Language Learning Center. She gives seminar-workshops and
trainings on oral and written communication skills. Notably, she is
also a lecturer and resource person for English-based seminars and
workshops for the Philippine Commission on Higher Education (CHED). She
specializes in language teaching and materials development. Aside from
teaching, she is also a part-time writer-editor. She has written three
high school textbooks for English, including a book for call center
agents. Before teaching in college, she also taught high school
students for five years in Xavier School in the municipality of San
Juan in Metro Manila.
- Mary Thomas, (Mary)
- Mary
Thomas is an instructor in the English Department of the Ateneo de
Manila University. She holds a Masters Degree in Communications Studies
from the Dublin City University, Ireland. She is a British citizen who
has been teaching in Manila since 1994, where she has taught oral
English, remedial English comprehension, research methods and study
skills, a course in Shakespeare, and some media studies. Her teaching
experience has encouraged her to become very flexible and able to
respond to varying needs and student abilities. Among the students she
has enjoyed teaching are students from Korea, China, Japan, Mexico,
Brazil, Congo, Zaire, as well as Filipinos. She has published a number
of articles and reviews in academic journals in the Philippines, The
Maryhill Review and The East Asian Pastoral Review.
- Jemain Diaz de Rivera, (Jem)
- Public
Relations and marketing consultant with extensive experience in account
management and strategic planning. She handles corporate communication/
relation with industry, community and media. Previously she was part of
the operations department of a contact center supervising, training and
coaching agents, helping them meet their KPIs. As a graduate of the
University of the Philippines, College of Mass Communications, Jemain
entered the industry as a broadcast journalist and moved to public
relations when she was Assistant Station Manager.
- Rodrigo C. Rivera (Rod)
- He
currently teaches basic and advanced communication skills to freshman
students at the De La Salle – College of St. Benilde. As a respected
professor, Rod uses learner-centered principles and techniques to
ensure the quality of learning of his students. Prior to this, he was a
TESOL instructor at the Cambridge Institute in Bahrain. He was also
previously involved in foreign language training of foreigners
preparing for international language tests. He also taught at St. Paul
College of Quezon City and was a Department Coordinator at AMA Computer
College in Makati City.
- Reichel P. Bajada (Reichel)
- She
specializes in foreign language teaching and curriculum development.
Reichel was previously involved with Brent International School as an
English as a Second Language (ESL) instructor. She has extensive
experience as well in teaching and tutoring Koreans of various age
groups, both in the traditional classroom setting and via online-based
learning. She was also an EFL/ESL instructor and an English language
teacher trainer for Southeast Asian refugees due for resettlement in
the US. In the same project, she acted also as the English coach of
other Asian teachers.
- Maria Carolina Sarmiento (Carol)
- She
provides trainings in and develops modules for English proficiency,
business correspondence and American Culture and Geography. With this
background, she became a trainer and a project coordinator at an
academy for call center agents. She also worked as a Team Leader at the
Asia Business Center in the Phuket, Thailand. Previously, Carol was a
teacher of speech and oral communications skills at the State
University and other major educational institutions in the country. She
likewise passed her Test of English for International Communications
(TOEIC), garnering the Advanced Working Proficiency Level. Carol has a
Bachelor of Arts Degree in Organizational Communications with units in
M.A. Speech Communication from the University of the Philippines.
- Ma. Rosario A. Francisco (Charo)
- Charo
has a broad cross-cultural background with both Western and Asian
cultures. Her vast experience in language teaching includes classroom
teaching, tutorials, translation and teacher training in various
schools, universities and other established language learning
institutes in the Philippines. She also has an admirable track record
in teaching English as a Foreign Language to foreigners both here and
abroad. As a Teacher and Tutor of the International Catholic Migration
Commission(ICMC), she was deeply involved with the ESL program for
Vietnamese, Lao and Khmer refugees bound for the US. She has been sent
as an official agency delegate to the International English Teachers’
Conference in Vietnam and Japan. Charo has a Bachelor of Arts in
Linguistics and an M.A. in Speech Communications, both from the
University of the Philippines (UP).
- Carol
- Carol
is a graduate of B.A. organizational Communication of University of the
Philippines (U.P.) Manila and has acquired units in M.A. Speech
Communications at U.P. Diliman. She is currently a freelance module
developer and trainer. She is also a part time interviewer at Convergys
Research. Her previous affiliations include O.B. Montessori in
Greenhills where she taught Language and Filipino to elementary
students; U.P. Baguio as an instructor of Speech Communication and Oral
Interpretation subjects and Customer Relationship Management Specialist
Inc. otherwise known as Call center Academy.
